Resolution No. 2007-02 - Passed by Consensus
Old Crow Multi-Use Center
Whereas; The VGFN General Assembly has identified the need to provide
recreational opportunities for the youth of Old Crow as a priority at
many past assembly’s;
Whereas; For years now the VGFN GA has voiced a commitment to the Youth of our
community and more recently the need for a larger new community hall;
Whereas; It is necessary to solicit funding sources to achieve a detailed
design and finalize what the Old Crow multi-use complex will actually
cost in order to find partners and investors;
Whereas; The community of Old Crow has completed a feasibility study as to what
the community would like to see in a multi-use complex;
Whereas; There have been 3 previous VGFN GA resolutions passed by consensus
supporting such a building;
Whereas; The VGFN has signed an intergovernmental accord with the Yukon
Government that includes working together in sports and recreation;
Whereas; A petition signed by many community members and submitted in the
spring of 2007 to the Yukon legislative assembly asking for the Yukon
government to become a major partner in this initiative received a
positive response from the Yukon government;
Whereas; The Yukon government has identified a member of the sports and
recreation branch to work with the Old Crow Multi-use complex working
group;
Whereas; In order for the Old Crow Multi-use Complex Working Group to solicit
partners and investor commitment a financial allocation is required
from the VGFN beneficiaries.
Therefore Be It Resolved;
That VGFN General Assembly mandate and direct the Vuntut Gwitchin Government to
make available when necessary to the Old Crow Multi-use Complex Working group

the sole purpose of leveraging and committing other monies and partnerships for
the design and construction of the Old Crow multi-purpose complex;

Crow Multi-use Complex Working group continue to solicit partners and investors
to build an Old Crow Multi-use Complex at the proposed location;

actual costs and design of the complex;
