Resolution No. 2009-02 - Passed by Consensus Porcupine Caribou Lobby Strategy Whereas; The VGFN GA recognizes the need to take full advantage of the current United States political climate; Whereas; The VGFN GA unanimously agrees to develop a new strategy to fulfill the 1988 mandate passed in Arctic Village, Alaska. Therefore Be It Resolved; The VGFN GA hereby directs the Vuntut Gwitchin Chief and Council to reevaluate its approach around the engagement strategy for the ultimate protection of the Porcupine Caribou Herd and make a decision on a new approach to permanently protect the Porcupine Caribou Herd calving grounds within the 1002 lands of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge by appointing a committee of senior advocates to develop a new strategy by December 1, 2009 that includes seeking a face-to-face audience with President Obama.
