Resolution No. 2009-03 - Passed by Consensus Vuntut Gwitchin Liaison position Whereas; The newly formed Vuntut Gwitchin Liaison/administration position in Whitehorse be one of an advocate/support position for the Vuntut Gwitchin citizens residing in Whitehorse, and be available to assist medical patients who travel to the city to navigate through the medical system, and provide to one-on-one social and individual support, as required from time to time; Whereas; The primary duties of the position will be an advocate position, while the secondary responsibilities will be consistent with the direction from leadership and that is to provide the necessary administrative support to the VDC/VGFN Administration, including the requirement to attend meetings as required in the absence of a VG political representative; Whereas; The assembly directs the executive office to turn over the responsibility for the design and drafting of the job description to the Human Resource Director as is the standard business practice of the administration Whereas; The assembly directs the executive office to turn over the responsibility for the design and drafting of the job description to the Human Resource Director as is the standard business practice of the administration; Whereas; The assembly directs the Human Resources Director to follow a fair competition process, that is inclusive of the VGFN Administration Policy, and preference hire VGFN citizens with the necessary qualifications, and that a representative from the Whitehorse citizenship sit on the drafting, and hiring committee. Therefore Be It Resolved; That the existing financial resources identified by the executive office, through a cost sharing initiative of VDC, remain intact, and that the first nations executive guarantee the resources to pay for this permanent position; Further, it is the recommendation of the general assembly that one of the political leaders hold the portfolio to service its citizenship outside of the community of Old Crow.
