Resolution No. 2009-06 - Passed by Consensus Peel Watershed Whereas; The Peel watershed provides important wintering habitat for the Porcupine Caribou herd, which is a vital resource for the survival of the traditional Vuntut Gwitchin lifestyle; Whereas; The Tetlit Gwich'in, Trondek Hwechin, Nacho Nyak Dun and other groups are strongly pushing for greater conservation of lands and resources in the Peel Watershed that are equally important to them as the caribou are to us and these groups need our support in their cause. Therefore Be It Resolved; That the Vuntut Gwitchin leadership show solidarity by supporting the efforts of other First Nations, thereby helping them protect their resources while, most importantly, ensuring the protection of our own.
