Resolution No. 2015-02 - Passed by Consensus VG-TH Overlap Whereas; Many Yukon First Nations (YFN) responsibilities and authorities of the YFN's are exercised within the boundaries of the Traditional Territories, as identified in Section 2.9.1 of the final Agreement; Whereas; In many ways, an overlap area is a nobody's land where no YFN's has management authority or associated rights; Whereas; It would be advantageous for Vuntut Gwitchin First Nation (VGFN) to resolve its overlap with Tr'ondek Hwech'in First Nations (THFN); Whereas; VGFN/THFN overlap discussion have taken place over many years and a contiguous boundary for the VGFN and THFN Traditional Territories has been recommended - a map and descriptions of this is attached to form part of the Resolution; Whereas; The respective government leaders met and agreed that the recommended contiguous boundary is a reasonable basis for overlap resolution; Whereas; VGFN Council has review the recommended contiguous boundary and approve this to be brought before the GA for final decision; Whereas; VGFN General Assembly has review the recommended contiguous boundary and believes it to be in the best interest of both parties to resolve the overlap on this basis: Therefore Be It Resolved; That the VGFN GA approves the contiguous boundary for the VGFN/THFN Traditional Territories as shown and described in Parts 1 and 2 Schedule A of this resolution, and; That the VGFN GA directs VGFN Chief and Council to finalize a sharing accord with THFN based on the principals of the sharing accord agreement set out in Schedule B of this resolution.
