Resolution No. 2015-08 - Passed by Consensus PCH Management Whereas; The VGFN GA recognizes the need to take full advantage of the current United States political climate; Whereas; The VGFN GA unanimously agrees to develop a new strategy to fulfill the 1988 mandate passed in Arctic Village, Alaska; Therefore Be It Resolved; The VGFN GA hereby directs the Vuntut Gwitchin Chief and Council to reevaluate and reinvigorate its approach around the engagement strategy for the ultimate protection of the Porcupine Caribou Herd and make a decision on a new approach to permanently protect the Porcupine Caribou Herd calving grounds within the 1002 lands of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. That VGFN GA hereby confirms its support, and commits to revise its strategy to protect the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge by involving the international Gwitch'in Steering Committee, as well as redefining the TOR and role of the GSC. As well, focus on collaborating with other Gwitch'in Communities to establish a long-term plan to protect the refuge; this may include a Local Traditional Knowledge workshop
