Resolution No. 2016-007 - Passed by Consensus

Foster Care

Whereas;  Our children who are placed into the child welfare system nationally and internationally are 
		often times put in non Vuntut Gwitchin First Nation care; this could be very detrimental to their 
		general health, emotional, mental and social well-being;       

Whereas;  We do not have enough foster homes in Old Crow that can take temporary custody and care of 
		our children;

Whereas; Vuntut Gwitchin Government does not have foster homes in Whitehorse to address the needs of 
		our children in care;

Therefore Be It Resolved;	

That Vuntut Gwitchin Government implement a policy and identify potential homes both in Whitehorse 
and Old Crow that can act as foster care homes.
