Protection of the 1002 Lands

Whereas;  The Porcupine Caribou herd is very important to the Vuntut Gwitchin - it is at the 
		 heart of our culture;       

Whereas;  The Porcupine Caribou herd is an international herd and is very important to many 
		 Indigenous cultures who rely on the herd for many thousands of years.

Whereas;  The Vuntut Gwitchin have been lobbying the US and Canadian governments for the 
		 protection of the Porcupine Caribou herd calving grounds.

Whereas;  The Vuntut Gwitchin have also educated southern US Indigenous Tribes.

Whereas;  Our leaders have not yet met directly with the Inuit peoples who have development 
		 in the 1002 lands:


Therefore Be It Resolved;	

1. Our leaders, Elders and youth reach out directly to the Indigenous peoples who develop oil 
and gas in sensitive key areas to discuss a plan that includes both Alaskan and Canadian oil and 
gas interests as well as protection for our future generations.
