Social Assistance

Whereas;  Many young people are receiving social assistance;

Whereas;  There are employers looking for workers who are willing to provide training;

Whereas;  Our young people need to be independent;

Whereas;  Older workers are retiring and will need to be replaced by new hires:

Therefore Be It Resolved;	

That VGG Health and Social Department develop a policy to identify situations where Social Assistance
eligibility is limited in the summer months when employment is available

That the Vuntut Gwitchin Government look at best practices in other Yukon First Nations and other 
jurisdictions that addresss employment opportunities for income support clients/Social Assistance;

VGG look at developing a policy for Social Assistance to limit abuse and promote employment and training.
