Resolution No. 2006-03 - Passed by Consensus

Land Fill and Plastic Bags

Whereas;  The Vuntut Gwitchin have been stewards of our surrounding environment 
          since time immemorial;

Whereas;  We are working towards adaptation of our changing environment;
          
Whereas;  We are now taking very seriously the dangerous effects of climate 
          change;

Whereas;  It has been scientifically proven that baring of plastics in our 
          landfill's is contributing to pollution of our air, lands, animals and 
          humans (ourselves);
          
Whereas;  The local landfill/garbage dump surrounding area up the hills down 
          the river has been austhestically contaminated and polluted our lands.

       
Therefore Be It Resolved;	

That the Chief and Council and Natural Resources Department take immediate 
action to stop these "Northern Plastic Bags" from coming into our community.
